A frequent typographic exercise at NC State asks students to design a prototype series mailer and postcard for the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival (which happens down the road in Durham each spring). The task is to deal with a great deal of information in a fairly small format (the mailer is 11X6, and the postcard is 8X5), as well as to produce pieces that work as components of a graphic system. My system evolved through use of color and a subtle logotype that speaks to the image of the Carolina Theater's Fletcher Hall — one of the Festival's premier venues.
